I never ran one before and thinking of buying one just to try it out to see if I can gain more speed. I just have an old, '86 aluminum skiff built by Raider Limited out of Canada who since have gone out of business. 22'x5.5'x27", being pushed by a '10 Yamaha F150 4s outboard. Current prop is a 14.25"x22" and getting 55-5800 rpm, lower rpm going against the wind and getting 51-55mph and this is with my family, spouse and 4 children, one of which is fully grown. 20-30gal fuel as well.
Thinking of going up to 23 and possibly 24 3 blade. Both thru-hub. See 22 and 24p Chopper props on eBay for reasonable prices. Or will these with over-hub design take away too much rpm's? That's my main concern as I know partial over-hubs lose 2-300 rpm over thru hubs that I once tried...
Had a 21 before and might buy one in 4 blade for fishing as I had a 14.5"x21 Pro-series and it pushed 3-4k lbs easily...
Before the F150 I had an F115 and best prop I ever used was a Turbo 13.25"x19 3 blade, highest speed and best overall performance...
