I never ran one before and thinking of buying one just to try it out to see if I can gain more speed. I just have an old, '86 aluminum skiff built by Raider Limited out of Canada who since have gone out of business. 22'x5.5'x27", being pushed by a '10 Yamaha F150 4s outboard. Current prop is a 14.25"x22" and getting 55-5800 rpm, lower rpm going against the wind and getting 51-55mph and this is with my family, spouse and 4 children, one of which is fully grown. 20-30gal fuel as well.
Thinking of going up to 23 and possibly 24 3 blade. Both thru-hub. See 22 and 24p Chopper props on eBay for reasonable prices. Or will these with over-hub design take away too much rpm's? That's my main concern as I know partial over-hubs lose 2-300 rpm over thru hubs that I once tried...
Had a 21 before and might buy one in 4 blade for fishing as I had a 14.5"x21 Pro-series and it pushed 3-4k lbs easily...

Before the F150 I had an F115 and best prop I ever used was a Turbo 13.25"x19 3 blade, highest speed and best overall performance...

5-6k, I am in the sweet spot now, but all the different props I have tried it pulls the same rpm's, 55-5800 but only a worn 21p pulled higher. Just really want to know how the Chopper props affect rpm's overall.

This is A CHOPPER prop. It is designed for a very light hull. and being an over the hub design it has a lot of slip upon accellerating

Re: Chopper Prop?

Notice the aggressive cupping? Choppers were designed for boats with power jackplates and are meant to ride very high in the water, turn very high RPM, and deliver more speed on a boat designed to use them.

Probably a waste of money on your part to experiment with one.
