Very nice work so far. Are you going to put a ski locker in there? I just ask because if not, you can get a very rigid floor by adding a few cross braces between the stringers about every 18" or 2'. (like the bulkhead you have, but it doesn't have to go down into the V of the hull, just straight across) Then if 1/2" ply is used, it will not flex. There is about a 2' span between the stringers, and a couple of cross braces go a long way towards firming things up.

BTW, that looks to be pressure treated. Are you going to use pressure treated for the deck too? Just curious. I would.

Thanks for the comments. No ski locker, gas tank goes in there, 53 gallons.
Not PT its the 23/32 wood from Manards, It's the Arauco Ply, has the exterior
glue in it. Will use the same 23/32 for the floor all wrapped in glass.
Reading the forums about finishing with a rough finish, and ability to spray the
floor down with a wash out hose. (will be fishing out of this boat a lot)

Been keeping up you your top project Mark42, nice work, and I have to say
good help. Learned some things from your posts/project.

Thanks for the comments/support. First time fiberglass repair. Did a floor in
my 16 starcraft once, oops twice once when my brother owned the boat b4 me.

Been reading on your rebuild also. Keep at it, wife and kids will enjoy it with you.

The 23/32 will give a nice rigid deck. Don't know why the just don't make it 3/4 :D. I forgot about the gas tank being below deck.

What are your plans for making a wash down deck. Glass it all over water tight or use a vinyl decking, etc?

Glass and then some kind of paint. Will be making the drainage ports better
than the pvc tubes I took out. Will even put ports to drain where Bayliner
did not. Should work.
Any thoughts on the PL adhesive to fill any voids.(pictured in previous post)

proshadetree, I try to invade Lake Huron (Saginaw bay) any chance I get.

Well I said I had pics on color so here they are. Remember this is a fishing boat.

Re: 1985 B-liner stringers and deck rebuild

This is looking great. I'm in the middle of replacing my ribs and stringers (all but one), being able to take a look at someone else's similar project certainly helps.

I think I'm going to cut small channels or holes (about 1" in diameter) in the bottom/back side of the stringers near the ribs to allow water from topside to drain into the center of the boat. Are you considering doing any of that?

When I pulled out the old foam, we still had pools of water resting on the outboard sides of each stringer. I figure we need to allow this stuff to drain down into the bilge.

My camera battery died today, I'll have some pics of what I'm talking about soon but thought I might ask if you're planning on drain holes too.

Cheers,
Nick

Uhh... Sorry man, it's been a long day. I suppose I could have read the rest of this thread before posting a comment/question from the portion of the thread on top. Looks like you're much further along than I am.

hehe -- Looks good though, good job.

Yea I put half rounds in my stringers, fiberglassed then went back with a die
grinder and opened the holes after fiberglass was set up, tried to cut holes open while fiberglassing but took to much time and wasn't working well.
Fortunate to have tools to do almost anything.

Good luck with your project, been a real learning experience.ken
