Well,thus endeth the lesson.

A kid and his brother came by this afternoon. They have a farm with a couple of goodly sized ponds, and need a boat they can just sort of leave out by the fishing hole. This is perfect for that.

We kept the trailer and all the trimmings that can go with a future boat.

I really really appreciate everyone's help and encouragement. Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor. Sometimes the only winning move is not to play. :) Know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away, know when to run.

Kenny would be proud ;)

Hopefully the $200 (half what you paid for boat & trailer, and you DEFINITELY got the better of the 2 by keeping the trailer) lesson will help you find, inspect & buy a much better rig that will suit your family better, the next go around.

Now that you have a decent trailer & motor, you can wait then pick & choose to find a great boat. Even use a rusty, beat up trailer or thrashed motor as a bargaining chip to get a great deal on 'just' the boat. :)

If you find a decent rig, swing by & drop a pix on us. Or even better a link to the new 'resto' thread.

Once you go tin, the MBS starts :watermelon:
