i'm replacing the gimbal bearing on a volvo sx-m drive. i've been searching the internet and can't seem to determine the correct gimbal housing seal for my drive. anyone know the part number?

this is, of course, assuming that i should replace it as well.

thanks!

What's wrong that you need to change the gimbal? The housing seal is a big job and probably don't need to be done.Jerry

I think he was referring to the seal in front of the gimbal bearing Jerry.

It's normally not necessary to replace that seal. It's actually more of a dust cover than a real seal. If the rubber portion isn't missing or torn up, it's fine.

yes, I was referring to the seal in front of the gimbal. best i could tell from the workshop manual, it was called the gimbal housing seal. the rubber seemed to be intact last night when i pulled the gimbal, but it was getting dark so i'll inspect it better this afternoon in good light.

glad to hear it doesn't need replacing....that means it's put back together time!
