    Firing order Force 150

I am looking at my extra 150 crankshaft but it is not bright in the garage. Can anyone confirm that the firing order is: 1, 5, 2, 3, 4?

Brief tutorial on water pump impellers.

These are all impellers out of a dual exhaust lower unit. First is a new one. Second is an old one that pumped very little water. third is one that pumped ok at speed but did not pump at idle. Lastly is the broken gasket that also caused no water at idle. Guess which one is the only useful one.

    Disuse problems.

I just took out my 21 foot cuddy with the Force 150 for a shake-down cruise. This was after over a year and a half not using it. Right from the start I knew it was going to be a bad day because I misplaced the cord to the electric winch. So, I added back a handle and decided to winch the boat...

    2011 Chevy Silverado

My owners manual gives axle ratios, towing capacities etc. However nowhere in the manual is horsepower ever mentioned. Does anyone know the horsepower rating of the 5.3 flex fuel active fuel management engine? Just curious since my '99 4.3 was rated at 180

    :Milky" lower unit oil

For those who are wondering if their lower unit oil is contaminated with water, I submit these photos. This occurred with only about five minutes run time. I was water testing an engine I had sold and mounted on a boat. It did not perform satisfactory so I brought it back to the garage. There I...

    Chevy Silverado electrical capacity

My 2011 Chevy has the seven pin trailer connector. As noted in the manual, the AUX battery power terminal is NOT connected inside the fuse box. Before I spend the money to have it dealer connected, does anyone know what the capacity of this circuit is? I intend to use it for a power winch...

    Horsepower increases.

For those of you who are interested, I have been corresponding with a fellow from The Chrysler Crew for the past month or so. He has given me what is supposed to be a proven formula for gaining horsepower on the four cylinder blocks. 1. Mill the head .0625 (1 1/6) to provide a .045 "squish"...

    Need a new tow vehicle

Sadly, I must replace my little S10 which has served me faithfully and with much versatility for more than 10 years. Yesterday she hit a patch of black ice going downhill. She traveled over 500 feet, missed four other cars AND an overturned Comcast truck by only a couple of feet. She hit a...

    Rebuilding Lower engine mounts.

In a private message, the question of how to rebuild the lower engine mount was asked of me. I have decided to answer here so all can benefit from a refresher of advice I have given in the past. The lower engine mount on Force and Chrysler three and four cylinder engines will frequently...

    Chrysler V6

During correspondence yesterday I found out that back in the day Chrysler made a V6, 150 Horsepower engine. Since it was a distributor engine, it would have been around 1978. No other information available at this time. Slick, huh? That's one I would jump at. Too bad Chrysler was forced out of...

    Second installment--Chrysler 60

I was out today with my mini Cougar Cub and was able to get a video. Again, it was a white-knuckle ride and that engine will come off that boat. It is just too much for that little hull. The first couple of minutes of the video are me checking to be certain the go-pro is working. The last...

    Do you have the guts?

Posted for your enjoyment. Do you have the guts to run this ? I now have power tilt/trim and an engine with some grunt to it. And a beautiful Johnson Oakland bronze 15 pitch prop. If the weather holds, I may be able to test this combo. I really don't know what to expect as the Chrysler 60...

    Electric start Merc 9.9

I have a year 2000 electric and manual start Mercury 9.9 remote steering. It has a mercury electrical cable and fitting coming out of the starboard lower cowling. HOWEVER: I can not find any site for battery cables. Did this engine have all power at the ignition switch or were battery cables...

    Chrysler 60 HP prop

Although this is about a prop, it is specific to Chrysler engines so I will post it here. You know I always advocate re-hubbing props. If you have a little imagination, you can do quite a bit as far as aftermarket props for your Force or Chrysler. This prop is an old school Oakland Johnson...

    New one on me!

Well, went to start the 50 to test the bigger carb and she was locked-up tight. She had been sitting for about a week but that is nothing new. I tried using a breaker bar on the top nut but the flywheel simply would not budge. I removed the carb and manifold and discovered white corrosion inside...

Say hallo to my leetle frand!

I have always maintained that a simple carb change will not increase horsepower to a noticeable degree. Well, now we shall see. Notice the black manifold? That's a TC carb attached to it. The venturi is 1 5/8 (2.07 square inches) diameter versus the 1 5/16 (1.35 square inches) diameter on the WB...

    Old SK type hull

Nyuk-Nyuk! Anyone want to restore this old California type, flat bottom SK hull? Found it on route 9, a couple of miles north of Tuckerton, N.J. Note the beer keg gas tanks. Unfortunately, much of the glass was cracked, it had no engine or vee drive, no interior, stringers were probably...
