Which outboard 4-stroke?Suzuki70 or Yamaha100?

I'm thinking of repowering with a used four stroke motor from this website for my 1984 17' Arima Sea chaser cuddy cabin(dry weight about 1300lbs). It has a 1995 88spl Johnson right now and only goes about 35mph. Not too concerned about speed. Will a 2003 Suzuki 70hp be enough or should I think...

Will rectifier hurt kill my ignition?

I bought a generic rectifier for my '94 88hp Johnson a while back. the yellow wires are the same with
no stripe. I got mixed answers from this site about how it definitely matters where the yellow/grey
wire goes. I think my original rectifier finally gave out(yellow wire output is...

Is Pennzoil marine high viscosity gear lube ok?

I went to the local Walmart to get some gear lube for my 1994 88hp johnson and all they had
was penzoil gear lube. Will this work ok? My local marine shop was closed on saturday or I would
of bought the right stuff. I'll definitely change if it is going to fry my lower unit. Thanks.

No color codes on a OMC rectifier.

I had a question about my batteries not charging on a '94 Johnson 88spl a couple of weeks
ago. So I finally received the rectifier that I ordered from Outboardparts.com. Problem is, looking
at my motor, one of the yellow wires has a grey stripe on it. The generic part(6-10 amp...

    Where's my voltage regulator?

In my shop manual, it seems to tell me to take off the flywheel to get to the voltage regulator on
a '94 Johnson 88spl. I'm pretty sure that I see it (round with three wires) on the right side of the
engine, close to the electrical block. If it's easy to get to, I would like to...

    Thanks djohns19!

Thanks for your reply on letting me know where the thermostats are located. Eventhough
I have a Clymers manual, it is'nt too specific. This morning I was de-carbing my motor with Seafoam
Deep Creep, and noticed one side of the motor getting hotter than the other side. So I <br...

Seafoam - How to use it?

I just bought a can of Seafoam that all of you talk so much about. My question is, I thought I read
that most of you guy's spray it though the carbs while running to remove all the carbon build up.
The can that I bought is not a spray. Should I mix it through the fuel or put it in a...

    Suzuki 9.9 impeller?

I have a 9.9 Suzuki(I think it's a 1991). Since I just bought it a year ago and just use it as a kicker, I was wondering if I should replace the impeller(if it has one). Today I ran it in a bucket of water and the head seemed to get hot to touch. Thanks.

I'm ready to purchase a shop manual for my motor can somebody please tell me the year(S/N G03550896)?
I was told when I bought it that it was a '95
but the engine cover is stamped with a '94. 1994 88spl johnson whistles
