    '96 Mariner 15hp Clutchdog orientation

I'm repairing the lower unit on a '96 15hp Mariner and I didn't notice that the pin that holds the cluthdog on the prop shaft is slightly off center. Now during reassembly, I don't know if it should be towards the front or the rear. Can anyone help?

Converting 1957 7.5 hp longshaft AD-11 L?) to short shaft

I have a 54 Evinrude 7.5hp Fleetwin parts motor. Any chance I can use the shift and drive shafts from the '54 Evinrude in the '57 7.5 Johnson to make the Johnson a short shaft motor?

    '56 30hp Evinrude Model 25022 SN# 14707 clutch dog part number dilemma

Bought a "New Old Stock" clutch dog (part number 375783) but it's not the right part. It has only 22 teeth and is thicker by an 1/8" than the part that was in it that I am replacing. The part I need has 23 teeth ad is not as beefy. See pictures. I don't know if this motor ever had a lower unit...

'56 Evinrude 30hp BigTwin Carb question

Rebuilding the carb on my '56 Evinrude 30hp BigTwin and on disassembly, there was no cork or rubber "biscuit" between the high speed jet and the float bowl. Every other old OMC I've worked on has one but I don't see one on the parts diagram for the BigTwin. Is it correct NOT to have the little...

It's ALIVE! - '57 Fastwin brought back from the grave.

Back in February, I swapped an old snow blower for a beat up old '57 Fastwin that I found on Craigslist. This one didn't give up easily but neither did I. Took it out tonight on a friends old 11 foot tinny and it ran like a top. Had to completely redo the lower unit as it had NO oil in it when...

Another "What mix should I use?" thread.

I have recently rebuilt a '57 Fastwin 18 hp (New Rings, Ignition, Carb, Lower Unit reseal, Water pump impeller, all new seals and gaskets. I'm currently running it on the 1st tank with a mix of 16/1 for "break-in". Should I switch to 24/1 after break-in, and if so, when is "after break-in...

Considering Craiglist purchase of '75 25hp Evinrude longshaft

Looking for advice from those more experienced than myself. I'm in the market for an older 25hp outboard (and by older, I mean cheap) All my experience is with much older 50's models that have points ignition. Does the '75 25hp have a good reputation? Any red flags with that year?

57 Fastwin-Milky Foam under powerhead when I removed it to change shift lever o-ring

There was a milky foam around the drive shaft where it goes into the crankshaft. Looks like emulsified oil/water mix. Is this normal? I've been resurrecting this craigslist find and have changed rings, honed cylinders, new top/bottom crank seals, all new gaskets, and 3m 847 on the block halves...

57 Fastwin 18 hp lower unit questions

Proud new owner of an old 57 Fastwin 18 hp Evinrude (model 15020) that I received in a trade for an old snowblower on Craigslist. This is my first time posting so please be gentle. I am doing all the standard revival procedures such as points, condensers, coils, carb kit. plugs and wires...
