Engine revs, curious loss of speed.

I took my 1994 Seadoo out on a long river today. When I was heading back in, I would notice that when I would press the throttle rather hard, it would rev up the engine but there were moments where I was not getting much speed, despite the amount of throttle and rpms. Trying to figure out...

    Seadoo 2 stroke Oil Injection

Are there any rules of thumb in terms of oil consumption on the 587cc injection system? I have a 1994 with a 587cc engine that I got this year. I have put on maybe five hours of use. Perhaps 11 gallons of gasoline I have used. When I look at the oil level on the side of the oil reservoir...

Oil for older 2 stroke Seadoos

So I have a 1994 Seadoo SP and am wondering what Oil I can use. Some people say that you have to use the Seadoo specific brand due to its properties. Other people say that you can get away with any type of 2 cycle oil as long as you don't have power valves. Does a 587cc Seadoo engine have...

Winch Ratchet Spring - Fulton T1000A

I have a double PWC trailer and it has the Fulton T1000A winches. On both winches, the ratchet spring does not seem to give any force or maybe just 10 percent of what it should. Kind of dangerous to leave it that way not functioning. Is it the spring that has worn out? Is there a way to...

First time on PWC ever today!

Well i have had my 1994 SP Seadoos for over a month and I finally had the chance to take them out today. Never have been on one before! Some observations: 1. The Seadoos sit awfully low in the water compared to my 16 foot Starcraft boat. I see how it can be a challenge to keep the dock...

    Battery Fluid Level Question

I replaced my Seadoo batteries with the a new ones from Batteries Plus. They filled them and charged them before I picked them up, presumably with fluid that came in the box. When I look at the fluid level now a day later, it appears to be above the maximum point. This is true for both new...

    Stainless Steel Versus Aluminum Impellers?

The differences between Stainless and Aluminum are well known on traditional outboard boat engines. But how about on Jet Skis? I have a 1994 Seadoo SP and wonder if I should ever consider stainless if I were to replace the original impeller. Thoughts? Does it handle differently? Speed...

    PWC Trailering Questions

Just picked up a pair of mid 1990s PWCs. I have a couple trailer questions. This trailer has a bow stop against the hull of the PWCs. It just doesn't seem to look quite right. I see many other trailers with a roller in this spot. What do you think? I do also kind of think that the bunks...

New to PWCs, need some advice.

I have owned and operated my own boats since I was in high school. But at age 33 I am ready to get some PWCs. I am looking to get a pair on a double trailer as it's going to be a lot more enjoyable activity when with someone else. My budget isn't really high but not real low. I could...

    Johnson Propeller Converging Ring Question

I picked a 13.25 diameter 17 pitch aluminum prop, used. No damage, although its missing the converging ring. A parts website indicates one can order this ring although it comes in two different styles I guess. Lexan and Aluminum. Does it make a difference? My engine is a 1979 70 horse Johnson.

    How to tighten up steering

I have a 1979 Johnson 70 horse. I feel the steering is a bit loose. I do NOT mean that there is some play when turning the wheel back and forth. I mean it should take a little more effort to turn the wheel in either direction. Is there some place where this can be adjusted? Perhaps in that...
