    Gear linkage

Re: Gear linkage I took these with my phone last night. I can see the treads above the coupling but will have to remove the lower unit again to have better access to remove the coupling completely. I downloaded to PDF's of the the force technitians manual that I own showing the parts and how...

    Gear linkage

So far I have changed the oil in the lower unit, cleaned the carburator changing the gaskets and hoses and yesterday I changed the impeller. After re-attatching the lower unit, I went to connect the linkage but the coupling and lower rod did not line up. I pushed the linkage rod down in order...

    Problem starting engine

Last time we used the boat the starter would turn for one short burst each time I turned the key. I got the engine to fire by sparaying some ether. The battery is one year old and I keep it on a maintainer. Once the engine was running we had no problem starting it while fishing for the rest...

    1910 bay boat

The family is outgrowing our flat boat and we are looking at a 19' bay boat in the future. Any input on a Nautistar 1910 with a 115 four stroke. Good build quality, ride?

    Cowl Sound proofing foam

The foam fell from the top on the cowl and wrapped around the starter. I cleaned most of it off but to start the engine I have to turn the gear to the flywheel and then start. What can I use to dissolve the foam and scrape off without damaging the components so that the starter turns freely?

    garage door opener

I have a Genie garage door opener. The other day it stopped working. When I press the remote or switch on the wall the light clicks on and it does nothing else. I can not find a reset button on the outside of the unit. Any ideas about what may be wrong with it. It is a chain drive unit.

    storm rated windows

I have to replace two large arched windows on my home that Gustav damaged. I understand that there are triple paned, steel framed windows designed to take hurricane force winds. Any of you Florida guys know anything about them. Price per square foot and lead times would be helpful. Also...

    Bent shaft

I bought a used trolling motor for its gatormount. It is a foot controlled Motor Guide with 30#s thrust and a 40" shaft. Motor and controls work fine but the shaft is bent. How hard would it be to disassemble the trolling motor and heat up the shaft to straighten out? Is it possible? I was...

    trolling motor mount

Installed my depth finder this weekend, now I'm focusing on the trolling motor. Currently I have a transom mount motor guide trolling motor. The mount will not open wide enough to clamp onto the bow. I'm wary about welding / bolting a piece of angle to bow and then mounting the trolling motor...

    tips on mounting a transducer

I bought a depth finder and am planning on installing it soon. Directions say to mount at least 1' from motor in an area where there is smooth flowing water. Instructions say that strakes on an aluminum hull can cause cavitation and to mount between center of strakes closest to motor. Does...

dodging wasps and cleaning the carborater

Decided to clean the carborater on Saturday. I removed the engine cover to find the motor covered in wasps! Apparently they entered through the air vent on the back of the cowl and established two large nests. Luckily none of them made it to the carborater. I took it apart and thouroughy...
