Cowl Sound proofing foam

The foam fell from the top on the cowl and wrapped around the starter. I cleaned most of it off but to start the engine I have to turn the gear to the flywheel and then start. What can I use to dissolve the foam and scrape off without damaging the components so that the starter turns freely?

You're very lucky the stuff didn't get sucked in the carb's.....it's ruined many engines that way. If it's coming off, take it all off now....before you end up with a blown engine.

I'll try the acetone later in the week. Thinking about removing the starter to clean it. In the sun it fires right up but in the shade or early in the morning it gets stuck. I was worried about the material passing through the carb and removed all the loose material. Once started the motor runs great. Thanks.
