Just to follow up on this, I'm getting a service manual in the mail, but doing the in water testing after the carb rebuild, the air mixture setting did run best after lightly seating the screw, and backing it out 1 and a half turns.
Hello,
I recently acquired a 2002 Mercury 9.9 4 Stroke standard shaft, and I rebuilt the carburetor using the Mercury kit. During the process, I noticed I do not have a plug over the mixture adjustment as some have stated, and also the carb kit came with a new air adjustment screw. Previous...
The older I get with boating, the more I have come to expect a reasonable life of use and not take any chances with something that can strand or cause great inconvenience. Partly the reason I now load test my batteries etc etc.
This weekend, with 2 batteries less than a year old, I went to...
Hello all,
I'm really just writing here for some advice on those have replaced their water circulation pumps in the past. I have a 1995 350 Mag Alpha Circulation pump that I can deflect the pulley and shaft almost a few degrees. It wobbles quite a bit to my surprise and I know that means it's...
I was getting no fuel pressure previously, checked for issues with blockages to the tank, check valve, etc. All proved negative. I also hooked a line to the inlet side of the fuel pump and nothing.
I replaced the fuel pump by holding the push-rod up in the cavity and sliding the new pump in...
Hello, I have a 1995 350 Mag Alpha with a mechanical fuel pump placed between a fuel/water separator and the Weber carb. Last time I ran the boat, everything ran great - a few months later, I go to fire it up, turns over nice but nothing.
Plenty of fuel in the tank, so I pull the separator...
What is the best procedure after flushing? Pull the manifold drains or leave them? I live in Tampa so not concerned with freezing, and I do pull the drains when I know I'm putting the boat up for extended periods of more than 1-2 weeks.
Hello,
I have a 1995 Mercruiser 350 Mag 5.7L that is bogging/stalling on the muffs on the trailer. It has a Weber 4bbl carbeurator, whichh if I take the flame arrestor off, I can see the secondary arms turning, but the butterflies inside with the weights just barely move.
I also cannot see...
Hello, I was wondering if someone could possible help me diagnose some potentially bad news. Today I took my boat with a 1995 5.7L 350 Mag Alpha Mercruiser to the Gulf to run it around after using it the entire Memorial Day weekend, running approximately 45 gals of gas through it.
This weekend...
Hello,
I have a 19ft Baja Bowrider and I was wondering if anyone has ever built a "plywood cover"? What I mean by this is a few plywood boards strung end to end with a hinge over the windshield so you can quickly put the cover over it.
Today, I have one of those strap systems to "help" keep...
So I posted here before about finding water in my cylinders on my 5.7L Magnum '95. I pulled the risers and manifolds and they were definitely in desperate need of replacement/attention. I replaced them with OEM Mercruiser manifolds, risers and gaskets.
I thought this was the issue, but I took...
After replacing the entire exhaust system on my 5.7L Alpha One Magnum, is started the engine on the muffs running on the trailer, and attempted to put it into reverse.
The gears grind slightly then it causes the shift interrupt switch to enable. It was working fine before I replaced the...
After putting in new exhaust and riser elbows, changing plugs, all fluids, I started the engine.
It started right up and I ran it on the trailer (on the hose with the flusher) for about 20 minutes until it was all warmed up. All functioned properly, and I was showing a good charge on my two...
I replaced the exhaust kit on my 1995 5.7 Mercruiser with this kit.

Everything fit as appropriate, I was wondering during the repair the difference in the new Elbows? they have a...
