Mercruiser 3.0L PowerTrim Cuts In At Speed

Thanks alldodge, the trim control rocker switch on the throttle lever fully checked out good. I was hoping someone had this issue before but perhaps not so far.... I'll also do more troubleshooting on the water next time i'm out.

Mercruiser 3.0L PowerTrim Cuts In At Speed

Hello members, my trim up and down works fine. The only issue is - once I hit apx. 30mph, the trim pump turns on, (the leg though is not going up or down). It's almost like the trim pump is trying to hold the current trim position. If I quickly throttle down (1 second), the trim pump turns...

Re: Mercury 3.0 TKS Where is the sensor for the temperature gauge? Thanks fun times, sorry for posting in the wrong spot...again. I see someone has moved the thread already, next time I'll know. I have the red sleeve, picture attached. Thanks, I already replaced the thermostat just in case...

Mercury 3.0 TKS Where is the sensor for the temperature gauge?

I got a temperature warning via the buzzer...but the gauge showed 175F - normal. I found the sensor for the buzzer warning, but can't find where the gauge sensor is? I'm wondering why the buzzer would go off and the gauge show normal. Thanks!

Mercury 3.0 TKS how does cooling system work?

Hello, my understanding of the sea water cooled engine (Mercury 3.0 TKS) is that water is pumped up the leg by the impeller, enters the block at the thermostat housing. It is circulated around the block by the water pump. A small amount of water is continuously added and exited via the "weep...

    How flush Mercury 3.0 TKS

Hi, when I get out of the salt water I flush the engine by connecting the muffs and a hose and then starting the engine for a few minutes. However I got thinking that if the thermostat is closed (since engine does not reach temperature in short time) then how does the block then get flushed...

    Ground Fish not showing up.

Hi again, separate question...do you guys have any luck seeing ground fish like cod on your finders? I'm in about 100ft of water, I'm catching fish, but the finder shows random dots and such near the bottom, but nothing like in the book where it shows a nice bird looking figure. Perhaps I'm...

    Ground Fishing Fish Finder Question

Hi, I have a Garmin 431S fish finder with a "dual beam transducer". The description on the package is "frequency is 80/200Hz. Beam width is 45/15 dual beam." I'm catching medium sized cod at about 100ft of water. The only settings available from the menus are narrow or wide. The manual says...

Should I change prop on the kicker motor?

Hello, I have a Bayliner 185 and a 6hp yamaha 2012 model that i'm trying to mount to the swim platform as a kicker in case of main engine failure. Ofcourse the boat will be traveling very slow with the 6hp at full throttle. Should I consider to change the prop? And if so what to change it to...

New 6hp 4-stroke missing at high RPM

Hi all, I have a my 2012 6HP which I just bought seems to be missing at high rpm. On the boat at about 3/4 throttle it'll start to buck like it's missing. I thought it was cavitating but no, because when I take it out of gear, and just rev it up, it does the same thing. What would cause this...

Leaking Boat?? Drilled Hole For Transducer 2012 bayliner 185

Leaking Boat?? Verdict is in and it's ugly... Leaking Boat?? Verdict is in and it's ugly... After taking the boat to the dealer over a month ago, they could not find the leak, and as a precaution re-sealed the drain hole flange?!?! Bayliner then assured me the problem was possibly fixed...

Leaking Boat?? Drilled Hole For Transducer 2012 bayliner 185

I drilled a small 5/16" hole for the transducer mounting screw to go in, got in about 1/4" (just through the fiberglass) and felt a void, maybe 1/8". Then the water started pouring out of the hole, maybe a 1/2 cup in total. Then I continued to drill and see wet wood bits coming out on the...

PTFE or Teflon to mount bracket.

Hi all, while mounting a kicker bracket I want to use some material as a backing plate behind the transom to spread out the forces of the bolts. What should I use? Maybe 1" thick Teflon or PTFE, something else even? What have others used? Thanks!

    Kicker on 2012 Bayliner 185

Re: Kicker on 2012 Bayliner 185 I do have access to the underside of the platform and planned to put a backing plate under the platform to spread out forces from the 4 bolts that'll hold down the plate to the swim platform. Then I plan to put two vertical plates (parallelogram shape), one on...

    Kicker on 2012 Bayliner 185

Re: Kicker on 2012 Bayliner 185 Hi All, I rigged up some wood and mounted the motor on the boat just to see how it would look and feel for steering, lowering the bracket etc... I think it looks OK. I can reach the tiller from the boats backseat, even more so with an extension on it. I can...
