    I forgot where earth strap goes 40RL71G

    Can someone tell/show me where th earth strap goes on this engine. My photos didn't show it up but I feel it was from one of the rubber grommet screws on the left hand side to the Lower engine cover? I am not sure where it was fixed to this either. Please help.

    Lock/Unlock lever 40hp 40RL71G

    How many bends are in the lock / unlock lever ? The bends are slight. It seems as though it doesn't want to move much and does little when pulling the spring loaded locking device.

    water pump 40RL71G

    I need advice on removing this pump housing. Screw head all broke off near the top. Corrosion is evident. Do I:Break the pump house to get to the screws stubs or is there some trick I can try? The pump housing is no longer available through factories... I think? Any ideas? Paul

    What is this component in my 40hp 40RL71G

    When I took the power head off the leg I saw this clip sitting in front of the crank circlip. Close up Does any body know what this part is for? It looks like some rubber has perished off it? Is there a seal missing from the crank in the pic below? This is how I found it.

    This is purely a question on theory I would imagine an engine would run most efficiently at a certain RPM with the back pressure experienced from the exhaust. My 120HP exhausts from prop hub and the lower leg so I guess it has to turn over at mid to high RPM to build up the back pressure...
