Thanks for tip on removing starter. There are bolts holding the trans spinning part to flywheel. They were easily accessible after starter removed. FYI I’m a shade tree mechanic. 😝
Mercruiser 228 in a 1980 Chris Craft 17 ft inboard. I have been told it’s a Paragon transmission. I am trying to pull the engine out and I can’t get the trans to separate from engine. I have it about 1/4 inch gap all around and doesn’t seem to want to go more.
How does the flywheel and such go...
So, I finally got all the parts and the thing back together. Raw water pump fully rebuilt.
Here is the problem, the exhaust manifolds get too hot. At least 200F seems hot to me.
So, I want to make sure this thing is plumbed correctly.
I already confirmed the thermostat works properly.
No water...
I have a bit of a homligation of parts on my exhaust. What I am looking for is a bellow with a 3”inlet and 2.5” outlet. Alternatively I could make a 3” x 3” work. The problem is, exhaust bellows often don’t list dimensions.
Anyone know part number for either one of those dimensions.
Thanks, Ken
Any idea the make on this “transmission “. Not sure you call it that. 1980 ChrisCraft 170SS.
Also what oil does it take and what is procedure for checking oil level? Engine on or off? Current Fluid looks like transmission fluid.
Its been a long time since I posted here. I forgot I had like 4000+ posts on this Forum.
Sold my boat about 10+ years ago. Just now bought a new one...but its not new LOL.
