    Thanks for tip on removing starter. There are bolts holding the trans spinning part to flywheel. They were easily accessible after starter removed. FYI I’m a shade tree mechanic. 😝

    So, I finally got all the parts and the thing back together. Raw water pump fully rebuilt. Here is the problem, the exhaust manifolds get too hot. At least 200F seems hot to me. So, I want to make sure this thing is plumbed correctly. I already confirmed the thermostat works properly. No water...

    That is the rest of the exhaust. Looks like pipe fittings to me. Hoses run out the transom. 1980 Chris Craft Inboard. Mercruiser 228 power.

    I have a bit of a homligation of parts on my exhaust. What I am looking for is a bellow with a 3”inlet and 2.5” outlet. Alternatively I could make a 3” x 3” work. The problem is, exhaust bellows often don’t list dimensions. Anyone know part number for either one of those dimensions. Thanks, Ken

    Inboard “transmission “ model and oil

    Any idea the make on this “transmission “. Not sure you call it that. 1980 ChrisCraft 170SS. Also what oil does it take and what is procedure for checking oil level? Engine on or off? Current Fluid looks like transmission fluid.

    Not pretty. Looks like they tried to seal with JB weld. May explain the overheating.

    I have a 1980 ChrisCraft 170SS with a Mercruiser MCM228 Inboard engine. I would like to rebuild the freshwater pump, but the problem is, the drawings show a pump with inlets on the back, whereas my pump has inlets/outlets on the top and bottom. Any idea what model pump this is?
