Should water be coming out of this gasket?

Hi guys, I have a 2014 Honda 500HP with about 130hrs. I noticed that water(saltwater) has been seeping out of the vertical gasket on my block(pics to follow). I can tell because after a run I'll see salt crystals along the gasket. It's not alot of water, but enough to coat the gasket with salt...

Can anyone guess the year of this Evinrude?

Hey guys, I'm working on this Evinrude 6hp kicker and I'm trying to figure out what year it is so I can get parts for it. I can't seem to find anything that might tell me that info. I'm *guessing* a 91 or 92, but it's just guessing as the cowling looks similar. I'd hate to buy stuff that...

Is this a glasply, and if so, is it supposed to feel this way?

Just wondering...does this look like a glasply to you? Noone seems quite sure...it's 16'. Second...if it is..is it supposed to have a big list to it? My friend and I jumped into one to test it out and if I lean to one side, it leans...that's ok...if we both lean on the same side, it...

    Engine bogs down..?

Hi guys, We've noticed as of late that our '82 Johnson 70HP outboard "bogs" sometimes when we hit a large bump out at sea. It's almost like the engine speed goes down for about...30seconds to 1.5 minutes and then suddenly comes back to life...During the time of the bog, moving the engine...

How important is the choke solenoid?

Hi guys, Just noticed the engine('82 Johnson 70HP) we have has the choke solenoid but is missing all the associated parts for it(plunger, etc). From what I've read this helps the engine during start up by opening the choke then closing it when you try to start up the engine. We've been...

How's this for lifting up your motor??

Hey guys, We have a 83 Johnson 70HP motor. As it doesn't have hydraulic trim/tilt, we have to manually lift/lower the motor. That being said, to lift the motor, we've been taking off the cover and lifting it up by grabbing the flywheel and pulling back...hard...is that ok? I know the...

Low compression on a Suzuki DT4

Am I screwed? The tech told me that they got around 5lbs on the 1st pull and maybe up to 75 on the 3rd pull? I figure it's going to cost more to fix than to just buy a new kicker, but I figure I'd ask if there was any type of solution/fix that might help?

Can you go out with out a rubrail/rubrail inserts?

Hi guys, I was hoping to get some advice here. We are in the process of upgrading our boat and part of it included us removing the rubrail and rubrail insert so we could put a nice layer of gelcoat on. That being said, we want to go out tomorrow but the rubrail insert hasn't come in yet...

    ignition unit question.

hi guys, This kinda ties into my other post but anyways...I'm not sure what year suzuki motor we have...that being said, I was told we need a new ignition unit; Would we have to get the right ignition unit from appropriate year or are they pretty much the same(assuming you get one with the...

    Help identifying this Suzuki?

hi guys, We're trying to figure out if this is a DT4 but more importantly, what year this is as we're trying to get a new ignition unit for it. There are no tags with info, all I could find is a H203 on the engine block and a number on the engine, 353521. I've attached some pics in hopes...

    Suzuki 4 doesn't start...at all

Hi guys, We recently bought a boat that came with a Suzuki 4 kicker motor. I assume it's a Suzuki DT4? I couldn't find any markings or stickers to verify that. I've included a pic below to clarify. We were trying to start it the other day and when we pull the starter rope, nothing...

Should water coming out be this hot?

Hi guys, We have a Johnson j70elcnb motor and I wanted to check something with you guys...After a run the other day, we put on the ear muffs and ran the engine(at idle) to clean out the salt. As expected, water ran out of various areas as it should. In one of the areas, the water ran...
