    Gday, Im in process of removing outboard for transom inspection. My question is how this plug disconnects. It seems real tight and wondering if I just yank it straight off ? Also when pulling oil lines at motor do I need to open lid on reserve tank to release pressure ? thanks for any help. Paul

    Had this problem before and cleaned all solenoid connections.Worked for me last time,not this time.My question is if clicking at solenoid when using throttle remote switch,doesnt that mean switch is good and sending power?,...or will a dirty switch still send power to solenoid.??     88 V6 Change Rectifier to Rectifier/Regulator.

    Gday all,Its been a while. My V6 only has rectifier and peaks at 17V at WOT.No problem with it as battery does the regulating,however im looking at new electronics that dont like over 15 -16 volts.Can anyone point me in right direction for a Rectifier/Regulator for my 1988 V6 135HP.     Gday all,Got a crack on bottom of leg.Repaired a few times though still leaks water.Corrosion winning battle. Guy down street selling same year 200HP 88.Will his leg fit and work on my 135HP?? I know some 200hp have 2:1 ratio.

    Jumping Solenoid with starter button..Key on or off ???

    Starting/cranking motor with home made starter button to solenoid.Did this last year but cant remember if ignition key needs to be in ON or OFF position. Also im sure its (Pos red to little red/yellow)to start.Correct me if im wrong. Thanks Paul.

    Battery Reading 17 volts at WOT.

    Gday all,Running a V6 Merc 88 model.Newish Marine battery working well.On fishfinder showing battery volt reading at around 12.8 with engine off.Running it shows increase volts to approx 13.5,but when near WOT yesterday it showed 17.0 volts.Is that too high or is it normal?     Installing 2nd Tilt/Trim switch.

    Im going to put back up toggle switch on dash as current switch playing up. Will it be OK if I just connect new wiring to Solenoids on top of existing wiring??Or can i only have one switch wiring connected to solenoid? Thanks for any help.

    Painting Gearhousing and Skeg question.

    Gday all from Aussieland. Just rebuilt water pump and base and decided to clean up mating surface to mid section as it was chipping/flaking.Ive cleaned it back to metal. 1.Should i prime first then paint with marine enamel,or just paint? 2.Can I do the same for the Skeg.
