My local mercury dealer sold me a 26K04 filter for my "brand new to me" 2013 25HP EFI.
Told him the year and model.
I removed a 26K03 and installed the new 26K04, and added oil.... thinking it was just a larger capacity filter (longer body), the gasket and threads are the same.
I then discover...
My 16yr old 30hp Johnson feels like it's getting slower and acceleration on take-off seems less as well.
The compression is ~120psi per cylinder + - 2 ea.
What reasons would cause this lowering of performance??
