OK, it sounds like I just need to suck it up and replace the bellows.
Does this look like everything I'll need to pick up?
- OEM Transom Service Repair Kit - Mercruiser 30-803099T1 (I don't really need the gimbal bearing included in the kit, but it looks like buying individual components would be even more expensive than buying the kit and saving the gimbal bearing)
- Exhaust bellows expander tool (Merc 91-45497A1) - I'm thinking of picking up an aftermarket version -- any brands that are good (or that should be avoided?)
- universal socket for my 1/4" drive
- Hinge pin tool Mercruiser #91-78310
- bellows adhesive
Anything else I need? I've seen some reference to a 'bellows sleeve tool' (91-818162) but in reading threads here about bellow replacements, I don't see much mention of that tool. Is it necessary?
Optional stuff:
- Trim senders - my trim limit switch died and I have it jumpered currently, but I'm wondering if I should replace them as long as I'm changing out the transom stuff...
- Lower shift cable - no problems with this... I'm less sure there's a need to replace it if it's working OK?
All opinions welcome! Thanks!
