Some what more progress. Here's some pics of the old rotten transom once I stomped it.

Here's a stamp of the exterior ply the factory used.

Shaved the top of the transom with a jigsaw as it had some speed wobbles. Hit it with the belt sander for the rest and epoxy coated it. Also bent down the alum that was overlapping with plyers and then a hammer.

Fixed up the motor mount stringer and hit it with epoxy as well. There was a support piece under that I made out of the cutoff of the old transom and epoxied that as well. The motor mounts will be beastly.

Nice progress Sprintst, I keep talking about getting my transom in, but weather and a ^~$#@ toothache have been a handy excuse. Glad the hole drilling worked out fine{always makes me nervous}...won't be long now, can ya hear the waves slapping the hull ;):D

Got pliers for that tooth. I'll post picks of the ones I snapped to day bending down the alum overlapping the transom.

Looks after that tooth dude. I once got a piece of some wierd root from a dude that toally killed the pain of a toothache. I don't think it was shrooms either :) Some kinds of medicinal herbal thing.

I was showing my wife what I've been up to this last weekend with the transom and all she could say was "Are those my gardening gloves in that picture"

I didn't want to tell her there is epoxy on them

It's like when a goldfish dies. I'll replace them with another set that looks just like them.

sprintst,
Just buy her some new gloves and a few flowers to plant and she will be fine.

Looks like you are really moving now. Keep up the great work.
It looks like you used the same engineered lumber I'm using for my motor mounts too.
Nice work.

The rear cap is now back on as well as the motor mounts.

I vacuumed out the hull and will get ready to take it home tomorrow to Gluvit the rivets under the motor area.

I'll tuck away some of the wires and take it to get the motor and drive bolted back on.

Here's some pics of yesterdays work. Tomorrow I'll post some pics of the Gluviting, finished rear cap, float switch and bilge pump, etc.

The rear rub rail guide will be to be held in place with clamps until I can get it screwed in place as the wood is a bit high.

You can see the outline of the beer can that I used as a table to do the epoxying. I'll have to hit it with the belt sander before it goes for upholstery.

A bit more work done. Rear cap supports with some of that workbench drawers non slip material sandwiched between the wood and alum instead of foam. Foam just held waterand distributes the load no better than this stuff.

Also got the battery isolater screwed back in to get some more stuff off the floor.

Bilge area cleaned up a bit to get ready for Gluvit tomorrow.

Here's a shot of the old brittle bilge pump and hose. Poor PO could not afford to replace the bilge pump hose and repaired with black tape. Leaked like he**.

Also a shot of the bracket that will be pop riveted in to hold the bilge pump switch.

All new hoses, pump, switch, etc sitting in the car ready to go back in.

Here's some shot of the stuff I'm going to use to insulate the dog house from noise and possibly heat. Found in in the furnace area of the hardware store. It's high performance reflective insulation don't ya know.

Way goodbye to the old transom as it is in the garbage heap at the shop.

Now onto the spaghetti wiring when the boat comes back from getting the engine and leg bolted back in.

Good thinking on that drawer matting stuff and doghouse insulation! I may steal those ideas. Your bilge cleaned up super nice too! Nice job buddy!

The bilge area isn't perfect but still better than before. I've stolen everything I've found on this site so it's only fair that I give something back :)

Did a bit more today. Trying to get it ready for the engine bolt in.

I separated the drive cables, accessory power cables and main harness. The rats nest is starting to make more sense come time for replacement.

You can also see the alum plate that will hold the bilge float.

I also Gluvited the rivets and seams in the bilge area as well as replace some rivets.
