I'm not an expert but the V4's have a very good reputation, especially the 90's and 115's. Given that this model year was built during turbulent OMC/BRP times, I'd have it looked over by an independent mechanic to be sure, but you shouldn't experience any more or less issues than you would with any other carbureted 2 stroke. Look for the "buying a used outboard" sticky for all of the diagnostics.

On this web page, click on johnson in drop down menu, it says they were all carb'd. Now it has the "F" in the part numbers with i thought denoted FICHT?

I checked that link and it only offers TWO motors in 2002 that were 115 hp and BOTH were FITCH...one a 20" shaft, the other a 25" shaft..

what page were you looking at?

the word i have always heard was that the Fitch motors almost bankrupt OMC...luckily BRP bought them out..

there were so many recalls on those motors...

all Fitch motors were fuel injected.

You're looking at the Evinrude's, not the Johnson's. There are three carbureted Johnson models listed, 20'' shaft, white and smoke, and a 25'' white.

Almost? OMC *was* bankrupted due to management issues and FICHT claims. BRP bought up the assets @fire sale prices in the bankruptcy.
