Yamaha 40ELJ cable bracket issues

I'm trying to get a buddy's boat motor going. He recently bought it, but it was missing the 25&26 brackets in the attachment. We got them, it only has provision for the throttle cable, no shift cable...

The motor appears to be set up for internal control cables and there's no parts indicating it was ever an external shift, but the genuine Yamaha parts will need to be modified to accept the second cable.

Does anyone have pics of their 85-92?-ish Yamaha 40 cable bracket? And how the cables are supposed to be positioned? Or better information?
