Just fired up new to me 2001 yamaha 130 hp 2 stroke. Rebuilt the carbs, new fuel pump, new spark plugs. I started it on the muffs at my house. Idle is low 5 to 600 rpm. I left the 4 idle mixture screws at current setting when I redid the carbs. I checked the roller cam pickup point is in spec. I turned the idle speed adjusting screw 1 whole turn clockwise and it only raised rpm about 50 rpm. I don't want to go too far as I don't want the carbs to be on the next circuit. Hope that makes sense. Should I set all mixture screws to 7/8 open as per manual? Thanks

setting to spec is the correct way, and check to see what the timing is doing with a timing light.
timing can change the idle speed also

So without knowing how this motor ran before I got it should I set all the mixture screws to spec (7/8 turn out) . When I cleaned the carbs I put the screws back to where I found them. Idle speed is too low 5 to 600 on the garden hose. I tried turning the idle speed screw but didn't sense much change after 1 whole turn. Maybe the mixture screws will get it where it needs to be? On my last motor ( a yamaha 40 hp ) I turned the idle screw so high the carbs were not operating on the idle circuit. Trying to avoid that happening here. Thanks
