Got the head gaskets today for the max and they dont look exactly like the originals.
What do you guys think? Notice how the coolant holes are smaller then the factory ones.

V/6 engines use 6 or more different had gaskets, there are at lest 5 of the type you are showing. Maybe a HP/model and year would get you a answer, MAX is kind of hard to figure out!

1990 150hp black MAX,

Black Max means it's black and big. Serial number will take it to displacement (2.4 or 2.5 l), and other details that could be important to the topic.

To interpret Laddies comment for you, you're asking for extremely detailed information, without disclosing exactly what it's for.

Did you measure the bore to determine if it is a 2.0l (xr2) or a 2.4l (would be in 1990). The power heads bolt interchange, so you might have a frankenmerc.

The serial number shows this engine would have been a MERCURY 2.0L when sold new.;):)

Fun,

The serial number is on the clamp. We're wondering about the power head. Could be anything up to and including a 2.5 l and pretty much bolt on.

Blown,
I'd wonder about your gauging. 2.0l is 3.125 bore. Wouldn't be anything smaller.
