Wot rpms 3.0 merc?

what rpms should i be at wot on a 1987 3.0 merc and what is the horsepower on this motor i just got it couple days ago no manual yet thanks in advance

140hp @ 4400/ 4800rpms at WOT.....

it was running at about 4000 rpms im thinking maybe acclerator pump slight hesitation what do you think

what size prop do you run you'r prop will change the rpm's at wot

Did you trim the boat out?? you can get the other 400 rpms with some good trim

Ayuh,.....

While you might possibly have Carb Issues,....
The Accelerator Pump has already done it's job, Long before WOT......

My 1985 turns 4600 with a 19* prop.

im gonna rebuild carb check timing its not running bad im happy with it just trying to fine tune it . i noticed your at 40 mph at 4600 rpm what size boat? I was at 38 mph with a 1800lb dry weight 19 ft boat with 4 people and a yellow lab

That 40 was with two on board in rougher water. If the water is glass smooth, it will ease up to 42-43 when you trim it all the way out. If I have 4 on board, tops is usually 36-38.

thanks xxx so i guess with 4 plus lab 38 was pretty good maybe my tachs off i feel slight hesitation but im not too worried do your rpms lower with 4 onboard

No, RPM's stay about the same. The boat will not plane out as high with more weight in it causing more drag, thus reducing your speed.

I've had mine 13 years and it's been bullet proof. I have only on put one lower water pump impellor, one shift cable, and one alternator. I haven't done anything to the motor other than change the oil and plugs. I ran the original points/condensor until last year.
