Re: WOOOOOOOOO Hoooooooooo $2.98/gal

wow! Saw it for 3.47 here - ok so oil is now at $85 a bbl, so after dealers have sold what they bought at higher prices last go around, are we going to see drastic savings?

Not being a guy who professes to know much about the stock market, I've been told the reason for the spike in crude prices was not production or refining or transportation, but rather caused by speculators on the spot futures market. In other words, the same guys who created the mortgage shell game which led to the current market meltdown. I now hear OPEC is considering production cut backs to regain higher crude pricing. Any thoughts?

yeah heres my thought - keeping the yukon at home and driving the $900 camry at 29 mpg + , seems to me oil aint dissappearing, hell its continually being made/fossil fuel, all a power play and seeing who will buckle first.

$2.69 at a station not too far from me.

One of the car dealers in my part of the world has been running ads for large SUVs at $15,000 off of MSRP. I suppose they want me to think that is a good deal but all I can think of is, "if you can offer $15,000 off now, you have been screwing consumers for a long time!"

$3.15 here today. I expect it to go below $3 by the weekend. I doubt it will stay like that for long though.

I am NOT an expert on this but I believe it is all "Smoke and Mirrors"
In 1973 in our area gas went from 00.25 cents a gallon to 00.75 cents with
a "so called" gas sortage!" BS! And you could only buy gas on even or odd days. Depending on your lic plate number!

A Co-worker from the mid west told me that his dad was still only paying 00.19 cents a gallon. Not 00.75 cents!

And don't be fooled by TV!

In 1989 a three cylinder Suzuki Swift got 58-59 mpg
In 1994 the same car gets 40 mpg (Mrs Link. owns one)
In 2008 the same car braggs about 30 mpg!

DUH!

We are going backwards here!

They have been selling “Made in Germany” Fords, in Italy, for 40-50% cheaper, than they sell the same car in Germany for decades.

People in Germany just keep paying, and tell you it is good that they pay more.

Huuu?

Am I stupid to question this practice, or are they?
