Will !990 40 hp oil injected power trim unit fit 1989 classic 50 45 hp non injected

I have two merc outboards, 1990 oil injected 40 hp (bad piston) and 1989 classic 50, 45 hp non injected. I would like to put the power trim on the 45 hp but the swivel mount is very different. I would need to remove the shift rod and haven't figured that out. Does any know if the PPT will fit and work on the 45 hp unit.

I appreciate any information and/or web sites that could help guide me for removal and replacement of the shift rod and PPT.
