why is the gear oil so thin from the factory?

well I figured it was time to put the M30 away for the winter today! well I changed the LU oil and the oil is so thin... I wonder why they do that from the factory? The oil only had 23hrs on it.

I don't know why it appears thin.

I just did the 20 hr. initial service on my Yamaha 150 hp, and it appeared normal in every way--a yellow translucent color.

It was the motor oil that appeared thin.
