I'll have to post pics from PC when I get back to it but I guess I don't understand why this particular motor is such a pain... Again prob my ignorance but could you please elaborate on the subject?
Ok here are the daytime pics. And if this is the case can you all tell me specifically what I need to be looking for... (have no idea what a long tail setup is). Remember you all are dealing with a complete ignorant person when it comes to putting together a boat. Also if the consensus is to unload these motors whats the best route to do that? Someone asked my timeline yesterday and I don't have one per say. This boat was given to me and it is going to be just a casual project. The outlined in yellow part is the brackets of some sort but there is only one.
The bracket standing up looks like the one for the tilt/trim pump. It will need one for each drive. A donor boat, or 2 might be the best bet since you are going to need pretty much everything.
OK does look like the boat did not use jackshafts. The motors were disconnected so the drives and transom assemblies could be stripped from the boat
Suggest get in there with a screw driver and try to push it into the transom and stringers. Try to find out if the bat hull is solid. My guess is there was some major problems with the hull for it to be put in place so it could be stripped. Not saying not to restore it, just try to find out what your going to need before major disassembly starts.
There is a guy in Iceland which restored a bot which was sunk and did an awesome job. This could be yours.
You could find some donner motors in the same place where you picked this boat up, also craigs list and such others
$.30 per # for SCRAP. those motors have near zero value except to those who dont want to re-power what they have and need the parts that are NLA as Bondo indicated.
Wow... Ok so someone had mentioned their suggestion on what they would use to repower the boat but what is everyone's suggestions? And where do you all suggest looking?
I apologize I didn't see any of those questions posted my friend but will answer anything you need. At this point I am willing to do whatever is suggested that is feasible. I thought I posted that the wood on the starboard side was soft but port side seemed to be fine. I don't have a problem labor wise of doing anything I need to do to the boat to get the best outcome.
