When Did Yamaha Introduce DOHC's?

I'm looking at a new F90 that has DOHC's. The dealer wants to sell me a 2009 model new with a full warranty. I don't know if that's a deal breaker. Can someone tell me when Yamaha introduced DOHC's? I'm looking at a price break for buying old inventory. Are there any downsides besides the 3 year knock?
