what years were 235 hp

hi all
What years did omc make the 235 hp outbourds and will the parts fit a 1989 150 xp or will the lower unit off the 150 fit a 235

These are the 235 production years. Don't know about the lower units, though.

thanks for the quick reply i have a chance to buy the 235 but wanted to know if the parts would fit can get it real cheap if they do .i wonder if the electronics would work the 150 is a vro and i dont know if the 235 is or not

Best bet is to go to the BRP parts manual site and look up your motor. Then go to your gearcase and get the part number for "Gerarcase Assembly, Complete".

Once you have that number, go to the "Search" pick list on the main page and select "advanced". When the chart comes up, enter only the part number and leave all the other lines blank.

"Show where used" will give you a list of motors that had that assembly.

A lot of other gearcases will also fit, but they may have different shift rods, driveshafts, or gear ratios or even a combination of different features.

i went to the site i guess the lower unit will only fit from 86 to 90 150-175 hp thanks for your help maybe its not such a good deal after all

The 235 lower unit will work on your 1989 150. No problem.

If the 235 lower is from a 1978 you will have to use some linkage from the 235 powerhead but it can be done.

the 235 doesn't have the lower unit so would the 150 fit it ? my 150 is giving me some problems it keeps quiting after you start it up runs for 5 mins then dies pump the primer bulb till you hear a click then she'll fire right up pumping the bulb before it dies does nothing
