Hello, I was wondering if there was an alternative oil I could use rather then the Mercury Oil. I cant find it locally so I have to order it online and it gets crazy expensive doing that. Any help would be appreciated!

Are we talking engine oil or outdrive Oil? More flexibility in the engine oil IMO.

Well mac...last fall I put 20-40 in my 3.0..been out 3 times..decided to change it..to quicksilver 4 stroke 10-30 Marine engine oil... my 1987 3.0 takes 10-30...The marine engine oil will likely hold up better..as for drive oil..90wt will do..go to walmart and get it in marine section

mercruiser recommends 25w-40 in all their sterndrive engines, next best is sae 30

i only recommend using mercury/quiclsilver high performance gear lube in all mercury/mercruiser drive systems
