Jersey speeds skiffs (16' lapstrake inboards). Two of them, one built in the late 30's - early 40's, wood, had it for 30+years now; and one built in 1969, 'glass, picked it up last spring.

Re: What kind of boat(s) do you own?

Recently acquired a 1996 Bayliner 1700 LS, Force 120 HP. I've not had a boat in the water in 35 years, until now.

Previous owned/experience:

1981 Renken tri-hull, 15.5', Johnson 70 HP O/B (due to bad drought, never had in the water)

1965 Silverline vee-hull run-about, 14', Sears/Chrysler 35 HP

My dad's boats:

1954 Chris Craft cabin cruiser, 26', Gray Marine (previous owner was Bob Feller, Cleveland Indians)

1946 Chris Craft cabin cruiser, 26', Gray Marine

1961 Olympia cabin cruiser, 21', OEM was Volvo vee-drive, later converted to marine Chevy V-8. (boat was made in Germany)

1959 Lyman Islander, 16', Evinrude 35 HP

Edit: Add a 1987 Baretta Super Sport, 2.3L Ford Cobra I/O, 95 hours on the meter, and many thousands of hours uncovered while under a tree.

Re: What kind of boat(s) do you own?

I browsed all 18 pages of this thread, and learned 2 things.
  1. I don't have any decent pics of my boat
  2. houseboats are not super popular here

I have.. and this is my first boat.. (go big or go home) a 1970 Stardust Cruiser 40.

The plan is to live on it every summer, and continually upgrade/renovate it instead of spending money on rent. I was in the market for a house, I found one, it just happens to float.

First season, had 2 scares before I made it to my mooring. First, the original thru-hull for the head turned completely to rust, so when they splashed it, the bilge pump was running in less than 10 minutes. Fixed that, but when they pulled it back out they removed (and lost) the plug for the bilge, and even though I had told them they need to replace it, they forgot, and put it back in w/o the plug.

Beyond that, and despite the screen name, my boats been dry all summer. It was a good first season!

Thanks!
Hope to transform her into a boat befitting a single guy in his 20's.

That roof over the deck looks a little saggy... maybe a brass pole would prop it up.... ;)
