Re: What is the most useful tool for restorations?

I use air tools mostly on everything. I do highly recommend wearing safety glasses, respirator and ear plugs, not to mention tyvek suits. Here is my list:

#1 safety glasses
#2 respirator
#3 ear plugs or ear muffs
#4 disposable coveralls (usually $3-4 at harbor freight)
#5 body saw (like a sawzall but smaller, takes the same blades)
#6 pistol sander (uses a larger variety of sanding/grinding disk)
#7 90 degree die grinder (use with small 3m sanding pads or rotary burr)
#8 DA sander
#9 sand blaster (works way better than grinding larger areas)
#10 skill saw
#11 jig saw
#12 sheet rock square
#13 speed square
#14 angle finder
#15 spray gun
#16 paint roller
#17 3" chip brushes
#18 fiberglass rollers
#19 shop vac
#20 air blower
#21 pry bars
#22 hammer

I usually start off with cutting/prying/hammering everything that is getting replaced. I then grind the remnants out of the way. Afterwards I sandblast the rest of the areas to get glassed, painted etc. I use a worn out nozzle, keep my distance and keep it moving. Then off to cut stringers, floor, transom etc. and start putting it back together. The tear down is the easy part, atleast for me.
