Re: What do you pull your boat with?

I pull my 18 footer with the wifey's 2007 Mercedes GL450. Just did the inaugural tow of 230 miles. Used to tow with a 2001 ML430. Can't say I felt a huge difference except on the hills where I've got more gears. Now, we have more room in the back for the dog and the head rest DVD players are a nice bonus for the kids.

I tow my 14' with a Titan. It gets my boat into lakes with no boat launch.

I pull my Bayliner 175 with a 2011 Ford Escape AWD 3.0L and it pulls it no problem at all.

I tow with an 04 F150 w/5.4L a 94 SeaRay 170. The Ford does not know it is towing other than fuel economy goes to 13.5 instead of 17. My Dad had an 05 Cadillac Escalade Picjup with the 6.0 and now has an 11 GMC Sierra with the 5.3L. The Ford will out tow both of them and stay in OD while doing it. I have had as much as 8500# on the Ford and I never lock it out of OD. I now have 120000 miles on the clock and it still runs like it did brand new. Both the Cadillac and the GMC will not stay in OD with a 1500# load on them. They constantly shift up and down unless you lock it out of OD. I had a S-10 with the 4.3L and it would not pull the hat off your head. I used to tow a Pop-up with the S-10 and the SeaRay with the F150 and that 4.3L was the weakest underpowered POS i have ever owned. The Ford is rated at 9990# towing from the factory, has all the coolers and the heavy suspension, with the 3.55 rear end. You could not ask for a better running vehicle.

I pull my '76 16' Starcraft Sea Farer and TeeNee trailer with my '07 F-250. I had to have a big truck to pull such a big boat, haha. ;)

I pull my Tahoe Q4S with my Ram 2500 Power Wagon. Pulls like a beast with the 4.56 gears and new 6 speed transmission! Last vehicle was a 2010 Ram 1500 with the same Hemi engine. It's also a beast offroad with the electric lockers and sway bar disconnect.

I pull my 21' wellcraft eclipse cuddy with a 2002 ford explorer. The truck has 91k miles, and I'm just waiting for it to explode. I expect the transmission to cave in at any moment, but it just keeps begging for more punishment.

P. S..... I usually have 4 wheels on my trailer.

Re: What do you pull your boat with?

Well I posted a page back that I towed with my 07 wrangler 4 door. It towed my 05 bayliner 195 pretty good. But it's lifted on 35's with lots of aftermarket parts. It was borderline and I live in the mountains. I got smart yesterday and bought an 07 f150 super crew with the 5.4L. Feel way safer now!

Re: What do you pull your boat with?

I pull my '88 Alumacraft Competitor CS w/80hp Merc on a Yacht Club trailer with a 2002 Avalanche 5.3L. Haven't had any problems with going or stopping. I figure the whole show, loaded with fuel and gear at around 3000#.

It's about 250 miles, one way, to the cabin so the only thing I have to stomach is the 13 miles to the gallon it gets on the trip.
