i seen a person pulling a 37 foot travel trailer a week ago with a 7 way on the trailer going into a 4 way on the truck and it was a 1/2 ton. if you dont know what i am talking about electric trailer brakes only work on a 7 way with the unit in the truck meaning he had a 10,000 lbs trailer 3,000 lbs over his max weight at least and no brakes. the reason i know the trailer weight is my dad was looking at buying the same trailer 2 years ago, but with the max on his 1 ton at 11k he didnt buy it.

yeah i know what you mean. damn. wish he would hit me, id be rich in NYS!!!!! lol

reminds me of yesterday on my way to work, im driving the ram, and a lady in a little acura tsx pulls right out in front of me, like feet, i swerve off into a parking lot to miss her going 35 mph. then i find myself thinking i should have whacked her, fixed the truck on her tab and kept the extra cash....not only that but my 5k truck smacking into her drivers rear quarter panel would have been one pit move she would never forget!

Re: What do you pull your boat with?

I have a 17' Trihull Bowrider from 1977 and we own a 2002 Chrysler Sebring and a 2008 Toyota Camry. That said, we borrow my step-dad's 2009 Dodge Ram anytime we take the boat out, which works because the boat stays in their barn. We plan on buying an SUV with 4WD and a towing package once the Chrysler dies and we'll tow with that. 164000+ miles and it still refuses to do so, so who knows when that will happen.

We'd love to get a tow vehicle that matches our boat, but I just don't know where we'll find what we're looking for with a Bright blue metalflake paint job ;)

I tow my 1982 Chris Craft "Viking" Cabin Cruiser with a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban.

In my humble opinion, you can't beat a Suburban. It will Tow the 7000 lbs. boat, 7 people in the Suburban, loaded with all supplies behind the third row seats, including a 4ft. wide inflated Towable, and still manage to get around 10mpg while doing it.

Very comfortable and very dependable. 148000 miles on it and still going strong.

Re: What do you pull your boat with?

Just got a 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 Laramie HD w/Cummins diesel. Can't believe how effortlessly it tows my 6600lb Seacat. Was using an Avalanche before, loved the truck, hated the mileage but really hated the stress I was putting on it when towing.

I hope the picture shows up in my sig. Can't get the hang of inserting a picture.

Towing with an 08 Tacoma V6 prerunner. 6500lb rated, and does a nice job even in the mountains. Estimate that I'm pulling around 5000lbs.

I pull my 1996 16ft Bayliner with a 2006 Nissan Altima, 2.5L, I was concerned in the beginning but after the first trip to Lake Pleasant, I was convinced I don't need a big truck, at least not for that lake. I'm thinking on getting a SUV, just to be more comfortable with the kids.

Re: What do you pull your boat with?

When I bought our 1998 Larson 215 Hampton I towed it home with a 1998 Pontiac Bonneville. I used that car with a rear lift kit installed for the 1st season with no real problems but knew I was over doing it. I finally got a 99 Trooer with a V-6 and used that for the next 5 or 6 years. The transmission started acting up so I stopped using it although it always pulled pretty good except uphill. This year I got a Ford F-250 6L diesel and I barely know the boat's back there. Boat & trailer weigh 7,400 Lbs.
