Sorry I know this question has been answered before but I couldnt find a complete answer when I searched. I have a 1988 rinker with a 4.3 in it. I found a set of 99 vortec heads how hard is it to put those heads on my motor? Thanks

Re: Vortec Heads

You will have to pull the distributor, intake manifold and exhaust risers. And the old intake manifold won't fit as the bolts come in from the top on the Vortec's. Think you will also need new valve covers as the Vortec's bolt in in the center not the outer edge.

You will also have to adjust valve lash. Not sure of what else, but someone will chime in shortly I'm sure.

Thanks for the help I plan on doing the 4 barrel swap so a new manifold would be coming as well I was just curious if these heads would bolt to the block. Also my valve covers have three bolts in the center.

Ayuh,... Your plan will work, Just Fine...

You don't say whether it's a Merc or not, but the Manuals are in the Adults Only section, at the top of this forum,...
I'm sure the Info on the head job wouldn't matter the make anyways...
