Hey guys, I did a general search and couldn't find an answer so here goes. I'm looking at a 30 ft express cruiser equipped with twin Volvo 5.0 gxi SINGLE prop outdrives. I currently am operating a 27 ft with a mercruiser 5.0 bravo 3. Can anyone compare the two and recommend if the single is a good or bad idea? And advice is appreciated.

The boat has 2 drives so maneuverability around the docks will be fine. Volvo's SX(single prop) has the same cone clutch shifting as their DP(duoprop) drive has. The boat may not plane quite as quickly as twin DP's would, but it may have a slightly higher top speed. It wouldn't bother me at all.

Now if you were comparing a Merc Bravo 3 (cone clutch)to twin Merc Alpha's (dog clutch), then that would be a different story.
