Back in 1972 after hurricane agnes half the basements in our area were flooded. I was in the HVAC business then and the number of oil burner ignition transformers damaged by water far outnumbered the ones available at the parts wholesalers. For a month or so on any given evening a half dozen or so transformers would be in the oven overnight for a slow bake. My recovery rate was about 75%. Also used the stove for melting lead for sinkers, jig heads, and bullets.

The freezer would be used for kingpins when one had to be replaced on one of the trucks or possibley a gear that was an interference fit. The refrigerator section almost always had some sort of live bait in it along with food.

Perhaps this is why I am now married to wife #3.
