Very detailed Mecruiser 2BBL carb rebuild question - for experts!

I just rebuilt the carb on my 3.0 with the 2BBL Mercarb.

The accelerator pump was weak = bogging - so that got fixed.

I have always had a little trouble with hot starts - lots of cranking.

Has anyone rebuilt their carb and added the spring needle to the float needle and seat assembly - when it previously did not have one? It comes with the kit and suggests adding it - I know this is very small detail but it might help with the hot starts.

Thanks

That's not your problem. Next time the engine is warmed up and you are ready to start, have a look at the choke. Is it open or closed?

Not to take your thread off-topic, but what did you do for this fix? Im having a similar bogging issue with my 3.0L. Im continuing my search, but wanted to ask as a parallel effort. Thanks!
