What blocks are the same on the 4v?? I have a 1977 140 V4 out being bored. But can not seem to get it back?? it has been 3 months and the guy from Great Lakes Marine in Denver can not seem to get my block back. I am looking for a replacement? What block can I use? I have everything else.

Re: V4 Power Head??

You will need to be looking for a 1977 or newer block. The 76 and older won't bolt up to your midsection. Also, the 77 and 78 85 hp blocks were only 92 cubic inches-a smaller bore size. Stick with the 115/140 blocks in those two years. In 79 all blocks were standardized on 99 cubic inches, so any will work from that year forward. If you want to use your bubble back exhaust, you will have narrow your search to make sure you get the exhaust filler blocks in the powerhead. You need to be looking specifically for a 140 block through 1984, then the same block was downrated to 115 in 85 onward.
