The 23p would definitely explain the hole shot issues. Sounds like the Deep Creep may have been helping a bit. I sprayed some in each cylinder and let it sit overnight after a HEAVY De-carb. I got more crud out of the exhaust than the original de-carb. The seals for the lower unit screws can be purchased here on iboats, at a merc dealer, or a boating store.

How's the motor doing now?

You can get those little seals at any mercury dealer, at chain marine part stores, some Napa dealers, or order from a place like iboats.
