Ok, so I'm having my grandfather's 1977 17' Trihull (I think it was an Invader Capri) restored and she should be back out on the water later this season. I'm trying to decide what my winter project should be since it seems every boat owner has to have one. I'm considering upgrading to two batteries from just one so I can eventually add a stereo and potentially some other accessories (depth, water temp, additional lighting, etc.) Right now the motor is a 1976 85 HP V4 Johnson Javelin which I know only has like a 6 amp charging system. Would upgrading to two batteries make any sense at all given these circumstances or would I just be better off waiting to do that until I repower her someday with something that has a better charging system (probably not for a few years at least). If I don't do the battery upgrade, I'll probably get smart tabs or a Ski Pylon.

The boat doesn't have any high current draw accessories so you don't need two batteries. Just one big one (group 27).
