So i have basically no experience with restoring boats, or repairing them. But i love to fish. I have had a 14' john for a couple years but the tippyness was a bit much for the wife. so i got the funster. After getting it i noticed that the motor was pulling the transom apart. After closer inspection the transom (what was left of it) was rotted useless. someone had "tried" to fix it by just bolting random chunks of plywood to the back of the boat.....FAIL. After some research, i found the boat is rated for 105. there is a 135 sitting on it. after studying the transom...it looked to be only about a 2x6 worth of plywood going across the transom (from factory) and since i am not going to go looking for a less powerful motor...."arg arg arg", i decided that the replacement transom needed to be.....well....better. at this point the top of the boat is back down, and i am re-riveting it this afternoon. and there is some glassing i want to do around the bottom of the transom board to direct water to the drain. The wonderful people in this forum have been a huge help in getting this done... every-time i wasn't sure about something i jumped on here and searched around and usually found my answers. Now i know you are all addicted to pictures, so here are the pics so far for criticism etc.
