My side bunks on the trailer for my 19 foot StarCraft have been a great help especially in wind, and it gets crazy windy here on Erie. A boat bigger than that I would add goal posts too. We made a pair for a pals 22 foot Star Craft a few years back with 2" PVC pipe, a few scrap galv. pipe inserted into them and a few brackets for cheap, cheap.

I found guideposts to be a great help. The side boards may be helpful, but if you're at a deep ramp, you'll need long posts for them to be much help. - Grandad

My side bunks are completely out of the water even at a deep ramp

I have never used side bunks. I really like the guide post' for reasons others have stated. I have LED lights on top of each post and I think that adds a margin of safety for night time towing. trailerlights.JPG
