tilt and trim servicing on 1983 Johnson 90hp

I have a Johnson model number j90tlcte and my trim is smooth but when you trim up it makes a rubbing noise on the piston rod like it needs fluid what are your thoughts and how would you service the tilt trim actuator.

First of all, check to make sure the reservoir is full of trim fluid. There is a fill screw on the side of the reservoir. The reservoir must be filled to the bottom of the screw hole. If the fluid level is down, fill it up. Activate the trim up/down a few times, then check it again. The up/down movement will self-bleed the system. Keep filling till it won't take any more fluid.
