Ticking sound coming from motor.

Hello, I have an 89 force 35 on a 16' Alum Bass Boat
Out fishing the other day, during a quiet moment, I noticed a soft ticking sound, like the ticking of a clock, that was coming from under the motor cover, and also at the control box.

I had run the motor open for 15 minutes and had been fishing for an hour when I first noticed the sound.

It sounds electrical, if that makes sense.

Today, as the boat sits there with the battery still connected, there is no sound

Any ideas as to what this may be....am I going to blow up?

Ticking sounds like metal cooling down ? It's possible it was just cooling down after having been run wide open for 15 minutes. Has it happened again since you first noticed it ? Make sure water is coming from the tell tale when she's running. Don't want to overheat it.
