Thread sealant

When replacing bolts in like thermostats, or anything you take apart on in engine, what is the best sealant to use so the bolts won't corrode?

If you mean keeping the threads from corroding, I'm a firm believer in antiseize. If referring to the shank, silicone.

If it's an outboard use stainless steel bolts
