I have read several threads on here about under skinning. I have a quantity of alum sideing that was intended for sideing
on travel trailers or cargo trailers. It is corrugated but only slightly, maybe a quarter inch. Has any one used such for under skinning
and how did it work out. The sheets are 46 inches X 8 feet.

I would say that is way to thin and it would rip right off, underskinning is normally at least .080 and more likely .090 or .100 which is pretty thick aluminum.

New to pontoon boating, what is the purpose of "skinning"?

Tried it and its not thick enough.

I went with .0625" and its holding up just fine.

as long as you have the ends covered with trim peices it should be ok rvs roll down the road at 70 mph and dont have any problems make sure you use screws with washers made onto them or ones with wide heads and boat on

skinning is running sheets of aluminum under your pontoon deck to lower wind resistance and protect the wooden floor from spray

It would have if I didnt stop. I had the top(bottom) and sides done and with in a half hr it was all ripped up from the water hitting it.

I wish I would have taken a picture of it. It look like a Bear clawed the bottom side of my boat.
